If you have taken a boat ride around the island you can’t help but notice the ridiculous amount of bait in the bays and on the beaches. Bunker pods, sand eels, peanut bunker and spearing. From Shinnecock to Montauk the fish found all these baits and are blitzing on them daily. Big blue fish to snapper blues, False Albacore and bass from Schoolie to cow! The guys west of Shinnecock are waiting patiently for these fish to show up. Some fish are around but nothing like what the guys to the east are experiencing. Black fish season opens this week and people are pretty excited about it, green crabs are being sold already, in anticipation for a great season!
