Fluke remain one of the main attractions, with fish spread throughout the bays, inlets, reefs and offshore structure. The ocean bite has been especially productive, and although anglers may have to work through plenty of shorts, there are some impressive keeper fluke mixed in. The South Shore is offering a little bit of everything. Bluefish are cruising the inlets, sea bass and porgies are hanging around the wrecks and reefs, and occasional bonito and cobia are adding some summertime surprises. For the offshore crowd, tuna fishing continues to be one of the biggest stories of the summer, with bluefin and yellowfin available from relatively close- to-home waters all the way toward the canyon grounds. Mahi are also showing for anglers hunting floating structure offshore. And don't overlook the bays. Snappers are getting bigger, crabbing is hot, and a simple afternoon trip with the kids can turn into one of those days they remember all winter. These are the weekends you bought a boat for. Snappers are showing around the docks, blue claw crabbing is excellent, and there is something to catch almost everywhere you look.
